An aspiring dentist was stabbed to death by his friend who just minutes before had tweeted about having "regrets" in the morning, authorities have said.
Cops allege that Connor McGowan, 18, murdered 23-year-old Michigan State University senior Andrew Singler at his Meridian Township apartment at 4 a.m. on Saturday.
It came 43 minutes after he had posted the coded message directed to his friend on Twitter.
The tweet said: "This time of the night is when phone calls and texts are regretted in the morning."
Cops were called to the apartment at 4:13 a.m. Singler was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Circumstances surrounding the motive behind the attack remain murky, but Okemos native McGown is believed to have been good friends with Singler.
The pair conversed regularly via Twitter, with their messages hinting that they also liked hanging out together.
McGowan, charged with murder, is now being held without bond at Ingham County Jail.
Tributes have been paid to Singler, the youngest of five children, who wanted to go to grad school after his graduation in May.
Brandon Green tweeted: "Waking up tomorrow might be the hardest thing I've ever done. I can't stop thinking about how much I miss you man."
