Twenty
six members of the 2012 Batch A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who
served in Enugu State have received good performance award from the
state government.
However,
it is a different story for other eight corps members as they would be
repeating their service for absconding from duty post within the period.
Also, six corps members had their service year extended for committing various offences.
The
Deputy Governor of the State, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, who performed the
passing out ceremony on Thursday at the state’s permanent orientation
camp in Awgu, said the award bestowed on the 26 deserving corps members
was to reward excellence.
Onyebuchi
commiserated with the families of corps members that lost their lives
in the course of national service and wished the out-going members best
of luck.
In
his farewell speech, the Enugu state NYSC coordinator Mr. Hillary
Nasamu acknowledged the support of the state government and its people
whom he said “provided conducive environment for corps members to
accomplish their assignment”.
He thanked the state government for providing fund for the rehabilitation of the NYSC orientation camp.
