Deadly Generosity: HIV Positive Woman Has Slept With 80 Men After Diagnosed

This is a story of HIV positive Sarah Kabanda (not real name) woman from Uganda, who has had unprotected séx with 80 men since she was diagnosed with the virus.
She is attractive and quite friendly. But the revelation she made about her HIV status and unprotected séx with many men was shocking.
“I believe I have had unprotected séx with about 80 men since I was diagnosed with HIV,” she says.
When she was asked whether she knew that she was spreading the infection, Kabanda answered that it was none of her business.
“I have nothing to worry about since I am HIV-positive. If a man wants to sleep with me, why not?” she says.
Kabanda doesn't know for sure when and how she got the virus. She can only guess that it happened in 2006.
Her experience when she was younger, is probably what led her to live the life she does. She got pregnant while still in school.
The woman believes that falling in love with her classmate was a crucial mistake in her life. Her parents were furious and rejected their daughter.
Thus she got employed as a bar maid. The bar owner provided food and accommodation.
However, Kabanda says, she didn't earn enough and many of her friends made extra money by sleeping with the men who attended the bar.

She was lured into doing the same and only stopped when she got pregnant.

“I continued working for six months when a friend told me about Kiruggu Island, where I am now.
"We got the land, some two acres or so, but it was tough getting money to pay for our basic needs. The good thing is that we were new in the place and nobody appeared to know our background. We both resorted to sleeping with the fishermen for money, which was more paying than cultivating,” she says.
Kabanda got pregnant again and only in the clinic the woman found out she was HIV positive.

“I felt broken. The disease is incurable and I wondered when I would ever settle down and enjoy life like other people. I accepted my new condition and made up my mind to just enjoy life.
Kabanda adds that now she has another job besides sleeping with men: she sells fish - this is how she supports her children.
There are many other people on the island living with HIV and undergoing treatment.

Still many men continue sleeping with mostly prostitutes without checking their health status or using protection.
