Having starred in action films such as Speed and The Matrix, fans are accustomed to seeing Keanu Reeves in nothing but chiseled shape.
So when the 48-year-old hit the Cannes scene on Sunday, it came as a shock to see the Hollywood hunk look anything less than handsome.
Unfortunately, the actor stepped onto a yacht looking bloated and aged.
Boating with bloat: Keanu Reeves boarded a yacht in Cannes on Sunday, debuting a possible weight gain and a tired appearance
Attempting to hold onto his Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures youth, the star wore his black locks long in a beach-boy style that only acted as a harsh contrast to his ageing face.
Perhaps a late night of partying caused his eyes to appear puffier than usual, but the actor looked tired nonetheless.
Former hunk: The 48-year-old, who usually sports
thick facial hair, opted for a clean-shaven look that exposed his
drooping jawline
Shocking gains: The ageing action star sported a protruding tummy and wobbly neckline
Had too much? Seeing that the Cannes Film
Festival is chock full of parties and flowing booze, perhaps the actor
had been out late the night prior enjoying himself
A cream linen blazer layered over his shirt and distressed denim, concealing part of his weight gain.
The action star has two films that are set to be released later in 2013, both of which must have required that Keanu be in top form.
Now and then: The actor looked slim and handsome
just in October (right) yet debuted a tired, puffy appearance in Cannes
on Sunday (left)
Signs of age: The Speed star's chiseled jawline was hidden under a drooping neck
The good old days: In 1991's Point Break, Keanu was at the peak of his handsomeness
Additionally, in Man of Tai Chi, Keanu directs and stars in the film based on martial artists.
It's quite possible the actor is just letting loose in his off season after months of filming and recently promoting the film Generation Um...
Keanu is also rumoured to be in talks to star alongside Reese Witherspoon in new sci-fi film Passengers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
20 years ago: In 1993's Much Ado About Nothing, the actor showed off a chiseled, slim body
