Three
unemployed youths on Monday appeared before an Igbosere Magistrates’
Court in Lagos for alleged rapè of four ladies after a birthday party.
The
accused persons are Ade Doyin, Awolabi Mohammed, and Adeleke Atanda,
all aged 23 years and residents of No. 3 Ayinde Akinmade Street, Lekki
Phase 1.
They are standing trial on an eight-count charges of conspiracy, rapè, theft and malicious damage.
Prosecutor
Okete Ejime told the court that the accused persons committed the
offences on March 1, at about 3:30am at their residence.
He said that the ladies were aged between 22 and 25 years.
“The accused persons, who invited the ladies for a birthday party, unlawfully had sèxual intercourse with them after the party.
Ejime
said that the accused persons “detained’’ the ladies, damaged their
clothes, rapèd them and stole their jewellery and money to the tune of
N287,000.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 144, 258, 285, 348 and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr A.A. Adefulire, granted bail to them in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
